(Video) ‘There were some talks’ - Harry Kane opens up on Manchester United interest in the summer

Harry Kane was quizzed on Manchester United’s transfer interest prior to his Bayern Munich move. The 30-year-old had been heavily linked with the Red Devils across the window, with Erik ten Hag identifying Kane as the solution to United’s notorious striker woes. However, Daniel Levy’s reluctance to sell and the price tag added to Kane meant that a deal was simply implausible, as the Tottenham Hotspur chairman would’ve demanded over £100 million to sanction the exit of his starman to another English club. United instead turned to 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, whom they acquired on a £64m up-front fee with £8m in add-ons. Reports have since suggested that Kane had eyed a move to Old Trafford in 2024 when his contract expired, but knew his hopes of representing the 20-time champions were over when they signed Hojlund on a five-year deal. Kane opens up on United links Ahead of facing United tomorrow, he was asked about their rumoured interest. “Obviously, over the summer I know there were some talks between a few clubs in the background,” the Three Lions captain began. “But then Bayern was a team I was really interested by and really excited by, so there wasn’t too many other discussions when they came in. It was between them and Tottenham to talk and then the deal got done. My focus is on here. “Obviously Manchester [United] are a great club – a really big club as well – but I decided to come here and I’m really happy I have.”
