(Video) Erik ten Hag predicts two players to form prolific strike partnership at Old Trafford

Erik ten Hag has high hopes for Manchester United’s frontline this season. The Dutch manager bolstered his attacking options with the addition of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta this summer, signing the 20-year-old on a £72 million package. Hojlund was awarded his first start against Brighton and Hove Albion last Saturday, which came one week on from his club debut against Arsenal, and the young Dane has looked incredibly promising in both outings. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford netted his first goal of the campaign against the Gunners at the Emirates prior to the international break, and after overseeing his first 30-goal season last term, he’ll be looking to go even further this time around. Ten Hag on Hojlund & Rashford Ten Hag believes that the pair will combine to form a prolific partnership up front. He said in today’s press conference: “Absolutely. The two can benefit from each other. But they have to know each other and that process has only just started. At the same time, we need results and so it has to go hand in hand. “But we learn from every training [session] and we learn from every game. Of course, we reflect togetherness and, of course, we lead that as a coaching staff. But we have also seen that Rasmus and Rashy are together, they’re talking about how they can benefit from it. “So you can see that discussion, that interaction on the pitch is going on, and that is a good sign. I’m sure they will get that connection. I think the connection is already there but I think they will get there.” Footage courtesy of Manchester Evening News on YouTube.
