Chris Jurasek steps down as Chelsea CEO; Jason Gannon appointed club President

After one year on the job, Chelsea CEO Chris Jurasek has stepped down, according to a report from the Telegraph. Chelsea appointed Jurasek at the end of last season, part of the latest wave of corporate restructuring that has gone on behind the scenes.
Jurasek was a company man from Clearlake Capital, and had served as chief executive at many other of their investment properties over the years, with appointments ranging from a few months to a few years. Chelsea claim that this was a “planned” move all along.
Part of Jurasek’s remit was most likely to help stabilize things on the administrative side after the upheaval of the first twelve months post-Abramovich. Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, we’ve struggled to line up a front-of-shit sponsor, which doesn’t reflect well on Jurasek’s time in charge.
His role will not be filled directly, and instead a “management committee” led by new club “President” (and still also Chief Operating Officer) Jason Gannon, will oversee the club’s commercial operations.
Maybe they can help us get a shirt sponsorship?

“I am incredibly proud to have led this historic football club into its next chapter. We have accomplished the task of building a team both on and off the pitch that means the club is well-positioned for long-term success.
“I have complete confidence in Jason and the Executive Leadership Team that was built and am thankful to have played a part in its establishment.”

Gannon’s acceptance speech unfortunately makes no mention of the stadium, which was his main project before this promotion.

“I am honoured to assume this elevated position within a club so rich in history and well-renowned across the globe. I have developed relationships with many supporters over the past year since joining Chelsea, and it is an enormous privilege to be here.
“We have an incredibly passionate supporter base both here in London and across the world, and we are determined to drive the club into a bright and successful future. I would like to thank the board for this tremendous opportunity and I’m thoroughly looking forward to working even closer with the leadership.”
