Chelsea FCW sign Maelys Mpomé from Montpellier
Chelsea are continuing preparations for the new Women’s Super League season — two weeks until opening day! — and continue the massive overhaul of the team as well following the departure of the legendary Emma Hayes and the arrival of Sonia Bompastor.
Latest in those endeavors is the arrival of defender Maelys Mpomé, whose signing from HSC Montpellier in the French top division was confirmed yesterday. The 21-year-old France U23 international (though she was not selected for the Olympics) has signed a four-year contract through 2028.
“Maelys has good experience for her age and has developed well at Montpellier in the last few years. She is a tall and athletic defender whose profile we believe will suit the WSL. We look forward to seeing her further develop and improve in the upcoming years.”

Mpomé’s arrival follows the recent departures of midfielder Jelena Čanković and goalkeeper Emily Orman, whose farewells brought our total number of exits to an even dozen this summer!
Welcome, Maelys; let’s win some things!
“Like everyone here, I hope to win the Champions League.”
