Aston Villa monitoring 22-year-old Leeds United star

Leeds United have seen Summerville emerge as one of their most important players this season. The flying Dutchman had caught the eye in the Premier League and was widely tipped for an important role upon relegation, but few may have expected him to flourish quite as much as he has given the competition out wide at Elland Road. Summerville has managed 20 goals and 10 assists across all competitions. His return of 28 league goal contributions earned him the Championship player of the year gong too. They report that Premier League side Aston Villa have been keeping a close eye on Summerville all season and could make a move in the transfer window. If the Whites miss out on promotion an exit is expected, but bids could come in regardless of how their season ends. Daniel Farke’s side sit 2nd in the Championship table as it stands. They’re four points off Leicester City with two games left and only hold a one-point lead over Ipswich Town, who have a game in hand. It seems that the outcome of Leeds United’s promotion push will not impact Summerville’s trajectory. If Farke’s side are to suffer a disaster end to the campaign and remain in the Championship, their 22-year-old winger will almost certainly move to the top-flight. As touched on before, even promotion won’t guarantee that he stays such has been his rise in stock. Image courtesy of: CRAIG BROUGH/REUTERS. Summerville is widely touted to play at the top of the game sooner rather than later. Leeds will be hoping he can do so in their colours, but plenty of clubs will be looking to offer him the chance to do so ahead of next season. Until then though, both the club and player will be locked in on the promotion fight. Summerville will be looking to add to his impressive goal and assist tally to inspirer Leeds United to an immediate Premier League return. If this is his last season with the club, that would be the perfect way bid farewell.
