Xavi makes two additions to backroom staff in bid to ease Barcelona’s injury problems

Xavi is set to add two new members of staff to his coaching team after deciding to stay at Barcelona and see out his contract which runs until 2025.
The Barcelona boss will make changes to his team, adding Julio Tous and Raúl Martínez to his backroom staff, according to multiple reports.
Tous returns to the club for a second spell and will join as a physical strength trainer. He has previously worked at Chelsea under Antonio Conte and is well regarded in the profession.
Diario Sport says Tous is “a specialist in strength work and injury prevention” and says he’s charged with “optimizing the performance of the players to the maximum.”
Martinez is the second addition who will now be the new coordinator of physiotherapists and masseuses at Barca.
The changes come during a season where Barcelona have once again been hit hard by injury problems to key players.
Gavi and Alejandro Balde are the most notable long-term absentees right now, but Barca have lost many players for significant periods during the campaign.
Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, Andreas Christensen and Marc-André ter Stegen have all spent chunks of the season sidelined through injury which has been a real source of frustration for the club and supporters.
