Daily Schmankerl: The aftermath of Bayern Munich vs. FC Köln; Real Madrid eyeing Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz; FC Barcelona wants to keep Pedri away from PSG; Sergio Ramos to Inter Miami?; and MORE!

More than anything, Bayern Munich just needed a win — and it took a while, but the Bavarians got that elusive victory with a 2-0 decision over FC Köln.
Bayern Munich was in control of the match, but could not break through until the second half against a very game Billy Goats side. It was not perfect, but it was what Bayern Munich needed. Here are some quick hitters on the match:
As always, we’ll start with the starting XI:
Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sané were held out for precautionary reasons, which open the door for Sven Ulreich and Kingsley Coman. Mathys Tel stepped in for the injured Serge Gnabry. Jamal Musiala took a seat for Thomas Müller, while Aleksandar Pavlović and Raphaël Guerreiro got the call in the central midfield. Interestingly, Noussair Mazraoui got the nod at left-back (seemingly in preparation to face Arsenal FC), while Tuchel opted to start Matthijs de Ligt and Eric Dier to keep them sharp.
The pitch was very slick. Müller, Pavlović, and Tel all took hard falls.
Harry Kane had quite a few golden opportunities in the first half, but the Ghost of Lewy was hard at work keeping those out of the net. Kane easily could have (should have?) had four goals in the first half.
Sven Ulreich did a solid job in picking up the clean sheet for Bayern Munich. The goalkeeper had five saves in the match, including a couple really nice stops.
The more I see him play wing, the more I think that might be where Mathys Tel should play. As a club, Bayern Munich’s philosophy seems to be trending toward using wings, who play more like wide forwards, who focus on scoring. Sané, Gnabry, and Coman all fit that bill. If things stay the same, maybe Tel would be a seamless fit into that role (and would allow the club to sell off some player, who might be overpaid at this point in their respective careers).
The midfield pivot of Pavlović and Guerreiro did well for themselves. Both players put in strong efforts.
Speaking of Guerreiro, his 65th minute goal was an absolute beauty. Kimmich’s cutback corner was a nice way for that play to start.
Müller was just really solid overall. It was good to see him score the second goal after such a strong showing. The goal itself was just a product of intelligence, veteran guile, and heart.
Overall, Bayern Munich got a win that it desperately needed and that was great to see. Arsenal will present a tough challenge on Wednesday, but this look in Bayern Munich’s eye is as determined as it has been all season. While this season has been extremely frustrating, it would be a very positive development if Bayern Munich can find a way to eek past Arsenal in the Champions League. After that, anything can happen...(well, maybe).
