Bayern Munich exec praises grit of Leroy Sané

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund knows that Leroy Sané has not been operating at 100% for quite some time now, but the executive admires how hard the Germany international has fought through the pain this season.
“It’s absolutely borderline. The medical department did everything they could, Leroy gritted his teeth and put in a great performance. He hasn’t actually been able to train [properly] for a few weeks, but somehow he’s back in games like this,” Freund told Sky Sport journalist Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) after Bayern Munich downed Arsenal FC 1-0 in the Champions League.
With Sané helping push Bayern Munich past Arsenal FC, Freund noted that Bayern Munich was able to help Freund’s old club, RedBull Salzburg, secure a position in the new format for the Club World Cup. That berth will earn the Austrian side a cool €50 million.
“I’m very happy for Salzburg,” Freund told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
