Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel talks rationale on rotation vs. Union Berlin

Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel wanted to rotate his lineup a bit, but it did not take much strategic thinking to make it happen given the team’s recent rash of injuries and heavy workload.
“We had Leroy (Sané), Kingsley (Coman), Serge (Gnabry), Jamal (Musiala) out, pretty much all our wingers. (Eric Maxim) Choupo (-Moting) has trained very well. I’ve known him for a long time so I was certain he would perform well, which he did. Nous Mazraoui, after two games and due to his injury history, we couldn’t play him more than 20 minutes. Rapha Guerreiro, after intensive 90 minutes against Arsenal and also due to his injury record, it was clear we wouldn’t take any risks especially in our situation,” Tuchel said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “(Matthijs) De Ligt had calf problems recently. Today, our strategy was to take 0% risk. Now we have two days off then we’ll prepare for Frankfurt. Right now I don’t know who will play. I’ll think about it on Wednesday.”
With so many player all performing at a high level, Tuchel will certainly have some quality options to face Die Adler. Looking for a more in-depth review of the game?
