Bayern Munich slice through Werder Bremen 3-0, draw closer to Frauen-Bundesliga title

Bayern Munich has still not secured the Frauen-Bundesliga but that is looking closer and closer. The Bavarians outgunned Werder Bremen 3-0 on Monday to maintain a seven-point lead atop the standings with just three matchdays to go.
Bayern cut the opposition open on the counter from start to finish, but struggled to convert in the first half, leading to a 0-0 halftime scoreline. Big chances to the likes of Lea Schüller and Pernille Harder went begging, leaving the Bavarians frustrated.
However, that would not last long into the second half. In the 48th minute, a Klara Bühl corner found the head of Magdalena Eriksson at the far post. Less than ten minutes later, Jovana Damnjanović answered Harry Kane with a near half-field strike lobbed over the head of Werder Bremen keeper Livia Peng, who was way off her line.
Bayern continued asserting its dominance and plugging away, with Sydney Lohmann nearly adding a goal on the counter moments after being subbed on, but ending up just out of real estate after touching the ball past the keeper.
The only wobble occurred near the 70th minute when Bayern conceded a corner, but Mala Grohs rose to the challenge to deny Sophie Weidauer from the spot.
Bühl and Harder both had golden chances to score on the counter but it would not be until deep into stoppage time that Bayern finally added its third — when Georgia Stanway caught Peng off her line again and struck home from within the center circle. Highlights below:
