Matthijs de Ligt and Konrad Laimer appear to escape serious injuries in Bayern Munich’s win over Frankfurt ... or have they?

Bayern Munich put on a “job done” performance against Eintracht Frankfurt, whom they downed 2-1 at home thanks to a brace from Harry Kane. At two different periods in the game, two starting players went down with injury: Matthijs de Ligt (halftime) and Konrad Laimer (28’). This got everyone nervous for a bit, but it’s apparently nothing serious:

Max Eberl on Laimer and de Ligt's injuries: "It doesn't look too bad for both. We hope almost everyone will be available on Tuesday" [@AZ_Strasser] — Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) April 27, 2024

Despite this statement, De Ligt himself is unsure of his availability as he limps out of the stadium: Thomas Tuchel then confirmed the injuries that the two players sustained:

Tuchel: "Konny Laimer has twisted his ankle and has a capsule injury. Matthijs de Ligt has a ligament injury in his knee. We have to see if both of them are fit by Tuesday" [@AZ_Strasser] — Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) April 27, 2024

Remember: Bayern take on Real Madrid in a massive Champions League semifinal clash as the two sides meet for the first time since the 2017/18 season. The last time the Bavarians got this far into the competition, they went on to win it. Madrid might be an intimidating team, but they too are dogged with injuries so the playing field might just even out.
Either way, La Bestia Negra is raring to go. If you would like to hear more about this game including the ramifications of this game for the Real Madrid tie, check out our postgame show below or on Spotify! As always, we appreciate all the support!
