Return Trip: Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti back in Germany to face off with Bayern Munich

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will walk into familiar territory when he takes the pitch at the Allianz Arena when his team faces off against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The former Bayern Munich manager appreciated his time in Germany and has admiration for this group of Bavarians.
“We have a lot of respect for Bayern. They were spectacular against Arsenal and we look at those games, not their season in the Bundesliga. You have to take into account their history in the Champions League, that’s a big factor,” Ancelotti said (as captured by Madrid Xtra via @iMiaSanMia).
The venerable manager will be matched up against Bayern Munich’s Thomas Tuchel, a coach he has great respect for. And, yes, Ancelotti did hear about Tuchel’s claim that Serge Gnabry would score against Real Madrid.
“He’s a great coach who is spectacular at a tactical level. I have a lot of respect and a lot of affection for him,” said Ancelotti. “Serge Gnabry has the possibility to score goals, just like Jamal Musiala, Harry Kane or Leroy Sané. Vinicius also has a greater chance of scoring than Ferland Mendy. We have great respect for Bayern’s attackers. They have players of the highest quality”
Finally, Ancelotti said he harbored no ill-will for being sacked by the Bavarians back in 2017.
“No revenge. I’ve been lucky to coach Bayern. I could have stayed longer, but I have really good memories of my years here,” Ancelotti remarked.
