Match Awards from Bayern Munich’s well-deserved 3-1 loss to VfB Stuttgart

Bayern Munich recorded yet another loss as a goal from Leonidas Stergiou put Stuttgart in the lead 29 minutes into the game, met by another converted penalty from Harry Kane saw the game equalized.
It looked like it would end that way, until an 83rd-minute header by Woo-Yeong Jeong — a former Bayern youth player gave Stuttgart the lead and Silas Katoma Mvumpa ended the tie, securing a historic home win against the Rekordmeister. Here are the match awards from Bayern’s event Bundesliga loss of the season.
Jersey Swap: Silas Katoma Mvupa
Now, this was a difficult award to give just one player but SIlas’ impact after coming on the 78th minute is undeniable. Assisting Stuttgart’s second and finishing off their third in style, this award certainly belongs to him. This was also his first goal since October, and surely it’s one that he will cherish. Good on him.
Der Kaiser: Eric Dier
Bleeding for Bayern — Dier took two hits to the head and played on in the first half. bleeding and needing his wound to be bandaged. Dier embodies the fighter spirit Bayern fans have been craving and a phenomenal block denying Stuttgart their first goal and putting his already compromised head on the line goes to show he absolutely deserves this award. Honorable mention: Noussair Mazraoui.
Fußballgott: Leon Goretzka
Honestly, none of the midfielders were outstanding. But when called upon to perform after Raphael Guerriero had to go off due to a knock, he delivered fairly well. Good game from him so he gets this award.
Der Bomber: Serge Gnabry
Gnabry did well to get in the right places going forward and even won Bayern Munich the penalty which led to the equalizer — he performed better than a rather disappointing Mathys Tel and even Eric Maxim Choupo Moting who missed a clear opportunity to take the lead.
Meister of the Match: Harry Kane
Kane did his job and scored Bayern Munich’s only goal of the afternoon, so he wins MOTM. Yes, he could have done better, yet his only competition for this award is Eric Dier, who only got to play one half. Kane scored his 36th Bundesliga goal today, which means he is 5 goals away from Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga record. Could he?
That’s that as Bayern face Real Madrid away next and will have to bring a performance better than the one they put up today.
