Bayern Munich player Raphael Guerreiro is out for Real Madrid...now what?

The injuries keep piling up for the beleaguered Bayern Munich. With five players already unavailable through injury, Raphaël Guerreiro’s injury simply compounds the issues Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel is currently forced to deal with.
Unfortunately for the experienced Portuguese, a brave block from an Angelo Stiller shot in the 3-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart only condemned him to yet another injury.
Furthermore, the injury was serious enough for Guerreiro to require crutches on his way out of the Allianz Arena — and Bayern has now confirmed will not take the field in next Wednesday’s Champions League semifinals second leg.
“It will be difficult for him to play against Real Madrid,” Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl declared after the match in comments captured by reporter Manuel Veth, via @iMiaSanMia.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed (Sky Sport, via @iMiaSanMia): “He’s not feeling well at all. He’s currently walking on crutches. He’s probably out for Real. Bitter.”
While the executive and manager were pessimistic on Saturday, the official news broke on Sunday that Guerreiro was indeed, ruled out. For a player who had already shaken off multiple injury issues to play such a crucial part in the business end of the season, this injury is yet another big blow. Hopefully he will be able to overcome these injury issues as well as he has previously. Looking for more discussion on the game? Check our our postgame podcast! Listen to it below or on Spotify.
