Leicester City plot striker contract talks, report claims

Leicester City and Jamie Vardy go hand in hand. The striker has been one of the most dependable goalscorers in the country for years and at 37, he’s still doing the business for the Foxes. Questions were asked as to whether Vardy would maintain his place as a key player following relegation from the Premier League and while starts haven’t been guaranteed under Enzo Maresca, the former England international has been as influential as ever. Vardy has 18 goals in 35 games across all competitions, averaging a goal every 99 minutes. However, his contract is up at the end of the season, leading to questions over his future. Now though, The Athletic claims that there is a desire to hold extension talks if and when Leicester City are promoted from the Championship. The fact of the matter is that as long as Jamie Vardy is playing, he’ll have a home at Leicester City. What he has achieved with the Foxes over the years will never be forgotten and he has already written himself in the history books as a club legend. Anything he achieves at the King Power Stadium from here on out just adds to his legacy. Playing a key role in promotion back to the Premier League might be viewed as a great way to end on a high but Vardy’s contributions this season have seen him retain his place as the club’s best option up top. Letting him go this summer would be a big blow, regardless of his age. Vardy is still doing the business for Leicester City and with his deal winding down, it seems wise for all that he’s tied down to a fresh contract.
