Update emerges regarding Leicester City striker's future, contract up this summer

Leicester City are back in the Premier League following their promotion from the Championship. Vardy, 37, sees his current contract with the Foxes expire at the end of June and he is due to become a free agent as things stand. According to the Daily Mail, he wants another crack at the top flight and has opened talks with Enzo Maresca’s side about extending his stay. However, negotiations could be ‘delicate’ as he is ‘likely’ to have offers from elsewhere. Vardy has been in decent form for Leicester City this season and has helped them bounce back at the first time of asking following their relegation last year. The Sheffield-born man is showing no signs of slowing down just yet and is still as effective as ever for the Foxes. He has scored 20 goals in all competitions in this campaign, 18 of which have come in the league. The ex-England international, who made 26 caps for the Three Lions with his most recent one coming in 2018, has been a great servant since moving to the King Power Stadium. Vardy started out in the academy at local side Sheffield Wednesday before spells at Stocksbridge Park Steels, FC Halifax Town and Fleetwood Town before Leicester City snapped him up in 2012. The attacker helped the Foxes win the Premier League title back in 2016 and then the FA Cup in 2021 and has played for them in the Champions League. Keeping hold of him for another 12 months would be a shrewd decision if the two parties can strike a deal. Leicester City are already up as they prepare to face Blackburn Rovers at home on the final day.
