Matteo Gabbia
The defender lost his starting spot when Tomori and Thiaw returned but has an opportunity to bounce back and fight for a spot with Thiaw suffering a minor injury but overall struggling since his return. Gabbia has kept it clean whenever he has played and has been pretty good since returning in Janury but he lacks some pace and is not convincing aerially. This game is a good opportunity to build some confidence by helping to keep a clean sheet and thus forcing Pioli to reconsider his starters in defence.
Lameck Banda
The winger has been hot and cold for Lecce throughout the season but was a nuisance against Milan with with pace down the left wing and he even scored against us. He has 2 goals and 5 assists for the season thus far but has slightly struggled since returning from AFCON. This game is a big opportunity for him to get back in form and he knows he to get the best of our defence so it’s an opportune moment for him. Calabria needs to be wary and press higher up to limit his opportunities to run in behind.
Samuel Chukwueze
The Nigerian winger gets his second consecutive start and will be eager to get the opportunity after a top drawer performance last week and a whopper of a finish in the game prior to that. He will get the opportunity on the right allowing Pulisic to occupy his favoured CAM role for the first time and form a seemingly deadly and pacey trio in Chukwueze-Pulisic-Leao which could be our best combo in attack. The winger needs to make an impression again but needs the goal contributions to flow too.
