Fikayo Tomori
The defender has been missed. His leadership and drive are sorely lacking on the pitch when we see combos of Thiaw, Gabbia and Kjaer. He needs to play the game of his life tonight managing Lukaku and pressing Dybala. Tomori adds so much to the side and although most is intangible, this is the type of game we have won ion the past as he commands the troops from the back and creates a sense of urgency.
Stephan El Shaarawy
The former Milan winger was surprisingly one of the best if not the best player last time out. He created so many chances with his brilliant passing and his pace down the wing but beyond that, he was Daniele de Rossi’s secret weapon. El Shaarawy covered so much ground doubling up on Leao with Celik and pressing Hernandez high up to limit his runs. His defensive shift from right wing almost entirely neutralised our left wing and he pulls a similar shift tonight, we will struggle to create.
Olivier Giroud
Giroud is in a slump and has missed some shocking sitters in the previous two games. He could’ve scored a late equaliser against Roma and a winner against Sassuolo but fluffed his shot both times. We need him to remain composed and be clinical in this game as the chances will be few and far apart. The striker needs to find the space for headers where he excels and needs to be able to contribute just a bit more off the ball. A Giroud goal gets us the wing in my book tonight.
