AC Milan Defeated In Six Derbies In A Row As Inter Milan Lift 20th Scudetto At San Siro; Pioli Must Leave

AC Milan were humiliated at the San Siro last night and the Rossoneri faithful left distraught by a 2-1 loss in the derby della Madonnina to Inter Milan which sealed the 20th Scudetto for our crosstown rivals in the most heart breaking manner. Stefano Pioli has shown an inability to defeat our rivals and this loss is inexcusable as this is a historic triumph for the Nerrazzuri.
Former Milan defender Francesco Acerbi scored the opener while new signing Marcus Thuram - who Milan failed to close a deal for in the summer - delivered the winner. The headlines will capture the redemption story of Hakan Calhanoglu who gets the last laugh over Milan with a number of trophies, derby wins and now the Serie A title under his belt since ditching Milan for Inter.
The state of the Serie A table and Milan’s position is a scathing indictment on the new ownership who have done little to improve the situation at the club since taking over. Th loss of key players over minor salary disagreements has left us with an inexperienced squad and the decision to dismiss Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara has left the squad without an identity and fight in the big moments. Milan are operarting to make money not to win at the moment. Ticket prices are going up, more hospitality/corporate offerings etc but the results of the field do not match. We get extra shirts at eye-watering prices to take advantage of the existing fanbase but the spending on the market is muted. Milan fans have not received a new stadium, an appearance in a final nor any domestic success since Gerry Cardinale took over. Only 1 derby has been won since RedBird took over and Maldini/Massara were still at the club then.
As per Opta Paolo, Pioli is the worst Milan coach in the derby della Madonnina with 10 losses and he is the first to be defeated in 6 derbies in a row breaking a horrible record. Pioli has to go for the sake of the fans, Milan are inferior in the city with him at the helm.
Milan could not even lose gracefully as Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria got silly red cards right at the end of the game when we could have equalised ahead of a big clash with Juventus next week while Fikayo Tomori’s yellow card means he will also miss the game forcing a major defensive rotation.
