Newcastle 4-0 Tottenham — Match Report: Are you not entertained?

Newcastle United gave Tottenham no option and trounced the visitors beating them 4-0 at St James’ Park on Saturday, April 13 to climb up the Premier League table and start to make the once-impossible dream of finishing in the top seven a very real possibility.
Alexander Isak was the man of the minute, scoring two goals which added to his season-long tally, now at 21 including 17 bangers in the Premier League, no less.
With his brace, Isak became the first Newcastle player to hit the 20-goal mark across all competitions since 2004—excluding two seasons spent by the Magpies in the Championship—when Alan Shearer did it.
Anthony Gordon and Fabian Schar joined the party and also found the back of the Spurs net with their goal looking ocean-wide on Saturday afternoon.
Gordon’s speed, quickness, and swiftness were all things the Scouser needed to dance around Tottenham, and Schar’s class popped up on a finish off a set-piece situation.
Micky van de Ven, who calls himself a “central defender for Tottenham,” experienced a few difficulties—to put it mildly—throughout the match, being directly outplayed in the buildup to three of the four goals Newcastle scored. Sheesh...
Tottenham’s performance was lackluster overall, but that doesn’t take from NUFC’s effort. The Spurs midfield was absolutely stomped on defensive duties and support and gladly exploited by the Geordies.
Eddie Howe’s tactical setup for Newcastle involved a new 3-4-3 formation with moving wing-backs depending on the situation. Tottenham had zero clue what was going on and the boys made the most of the change by netting four and going home with a clean sheet in their bag. Not bad!
The win allows Newcastle to maintain momentum in the Premier League, as they are still not guaranteed a top-seven finish but they’re getting closer and closer to clinching it in a few matchdays if all goes according to plan and follows the recent improvements seen on the pitch. No need to mention it, as long as Isak continues his scoring streak active and Fuego Mode on we’ll be hella cool.
Howay!
