How has Tony Springett fared since leaving Norwich City on loan?

Norwich City academy graduate Springett has made 13 appearances for the Canaries this season, most of which came off the bench, failing to register a goal contribution in that time. The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Derby County, and a similar fate followed this campaign as he dropped down to League One once more to seal a temporary switch to Northampton Town. The aim of his move to the Cobblers was surely to monitor his progression and help him find much needed confidence in the final third. Since joining Northampton, the Republic of Ireland U21 international has featured 12 times, scoring once off the bench in a 2-2 draw with Oxford United. Following his arrival, the Cobblers have won six, drawn four and lost eight of their third-tier fixtures. They sit 11th in the table as things stand, with two games remaining before their campaign draws to a close. The Norwich City loanee has similarly struggled for first-team minutes in League One, sitting out of the squad entirely on four occasions and making just the one start. Springett has just one year remaining on his current deal at Carrow Road, so it will be intriguing to see just what the summer holds for him after another fairly underwhelming loan. The likelihood is that he will face another loan spell next season, though a permanent exit could also be on the cards before he is able to leave for free next summer.
