Manchester United to play Real Betis in San Diego friendly

Manchester United have arranged a pre-season friendly against Real Betis in San Diego for July 31. The news was broke on Monday evening by respected journalist Andy Mitten from The Athletic. It will mark United’s return to the 35,000-capacity Snapdragon stadium where the Reds took an U21 side that lost to Wrexham last July. Betis, currently seventh in La Liga, are managed by a familiar face in Manuel Pellegrini, who previously managed Man City. The most recent tie between the two sides came in the Europa League last year months before the La Liga side’s neighbours Sevilla knocked us out of the competition. United’s tour will start against Premier League opposition, which is arguably one of the best ways to prepare for the new campaign. That clash will take place against Arsenal in Los Angeles in the 70,000-capacity SOFI stadium on July 27. After the Betis friendly, United will take on Liverpool at the Williams-Bryce Stadium in South Carolina on August. The Reds are then expected to return to Europe for more pre-season fixtures before the 2024/25 season kicks off. This will be exciting news for our readers in San Diego. Best of luck getting tickets and we hope the prices are ridiculous. A number of the friendlies last summer were rightly criticised for the crazy prices – from San Diego to Dublin.
