Probable Formations: Roma vs Bologna

Thursday’s Europa League quarterfinal second leg kicked off what will be a hellish stretch of matches for Roma, one that was made just a bit more difficult with the suspended Udinese match set for Thursday.
Just four days after eliminating Milan to advance to their fourth straight European semifinal, Roma will host Bologna in their biggest domestic match to date. With the Giallorossi just four points behind the Rossoblu (with the Udinese match in hand), three points could be critical in the race for the top four.
And to make matters just a bit more difficult, Daniele De Rossi will have to set up his side without his starting striker after Romelu Lukaku was ruled out. In his prematch presser, De Rossi gave an update on Lukaku’s injury, as well as who might play in his place.
“Romelu will not be in the squad against Bologna. He had a minor muscle problem. We’ll understand in the next few days how minor and how long it will take him to return, but we’re confident it’s nothing serious.
“One of [Sardar] Azmoun and Tammy [Abraham] will play. We’ll know from today’s training session. And I won’t rule out using both of them during the game. We come into this after a game that took a lot out of us from a physical and mental point of view – to stand firm and defend against a team like Milan, the lads put in an incredible effort.
“But, to sum up, we’ve recovered and we’re ready to play tomorrow.”
With Abraham playing 60+ minutes just weeks after his return from an ACL injury and Sadar Azmoun returning from an injury of his own, it seems unlikely either player would be expected to play the whole 90. Therefore, we’ll lean toward Abraham starting, but don’t be surprised if the two players split this one 45/45 or 60/30.
A few other changes are also expected to the starting XI that defeated Milan. For one, Bryan Cristante will regain his starting place in the midfield after he was suspended against the Rossoneri. Meanwhile, three changes are expected along the backline. Diego Llorente is anticipated to start in place of Chris Smalling. Additionally, both fullbacks are expected to be rotated, with Rick Karsdorp and Angeliño taking the places of Leonardo Spinazzola and Zeki Çelik.
Roma (4-3-3): Svilar; Çelik, Mancini, Llorente, Angeliño; Cristante, Paredes, Pellegrini; Dybala, Abraham, El Shaarawy.
