Evan Ndicka Cleared to Resume Sports Activity

Despite the doom and gloom surrounding Roma's 3-1 defeat to Bologna, there was some wonderful news out of the Eternal City this afternoon: Evan Ndicka has been cleared to resume sporting activity. Ndicka collapsed on the pitch during Roma's Round 32 fixture against Udinese and was quickly stretchered off the pitch as a pall fell over the Stadio Friuli. With so much uncertainty surrounding Ndicka's condition, all parties agreed to suspend the match in the 81st minute, with the final 20 minutes scheduled to be completed on Thursday.
While we hesitated to speculate on his immediate medical condition, one couldn't help but fear the worst, that Ndicka suffered a cardiac rest. Those fears were soon erased, as Ndicka's initial tests didn't reveal any signs of cardiac arrest. Still, when a player collapses on the pitch with chest pain, prudence is always the best course of action.
Ndicka remained conscious throughout the entire ordeal, even giving a semi-thumbs-up as he was stretchered into the tunnel. He joined his teammates in the dugout for last week's Europa League victory over AC Milan, but today brought even better news.
According to the club, Ndicka has been cleared to resume sporting activities. From the club's official release:

The player Evan Ndicka underwent a series of cardiologic and third level pulmonary tests at the Villa Stuart FIFA medical center.
Tests conducted confirmed the absence of cardiac pathologies and the healing of the minimal pneumothorax that occurred during the match in Udine.
The player is therefore fit for resuming sports activity that will be monitored in the following day

Now, there's likely a chasm of gray space between "resuming sports activity" and playing in an actual match, so we'll have to wait and see when Ndicka will actually suit up again, but this excellent news for Ndicka, a young man with a bright future ahead of him.
