QPR: Marti Cifuentes heaps praise on midfielder Sam Field

QPR recently rewarded the midfielder with a new three-year contract. Field, 25, committed his future to the Championship side and is currently looking to help them stay up. Cifuentes has said, as per a report by West London Sport: “He’s showing that despite big competition that we have in midfield that he is a reliable player, is always giving his best. “When he came back from suspension he played magnificent and I was very happy for him when he scored two goals against West Brom. “He has been helping us a lot and I’m very happy for him and it also helps everybody else to keep their best level. It’s a luxury (selection) problem).” Field is a steady option for QPR to have in their ranks and he gives them more competition and depth in the middle of the park alongside the likes of Jack Colback, Joe Hodge and Isaac Hayden. The Midlands-born man has been on the books of the London club since joining them back in 2021. He initially linked up with the R’s on loan before his move was made permanent shortly after. The ex-England youth international has made 133 appearances for the Hoops in all competitions to date, 35 of which have come this season, and he has chipped in with six goals and five assists. He was a regular for the Baggies at various youth levels before going on to play 45 games for them as a youngster, as well as having a temporary spell away from the Hawthorns at Charlton Athletic to get some experience. He scored against his former club for QPR earlier this month in their 2-2 draw. Cifuentes’ men have a big clash coming up against Birmingham City on Friday. They are currently only above the drop zone by a point. They are a point above the Blues with eight fixtures left to play. The R’s then lock horns with Swansea City away on Monday.
