Premier League Title now Manchester City’s to Lose

It was almost unbelievable to watch Liverpool and Arsenal fall to damaging defeats on matchday 32 as they lost to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively.
After Manchester City failed to beat Arsenal in their recent meeting at the Etihad Stadium, both the Gunners and the Reds were now in a better position to win the league title. A point ahead of City with just six games to go, either team could have secured the league title by just winning the remaining six games.
But that's easier said than done in the English top flight.
However, the real shocker was the fact that both teams lost games at home that on any other day they would win. Perhaps it is even more surprising for Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool who rarely lose a league game at Anfield, having made the ground a fortress.
On their part, Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are enjoying a good run of form. The side had not lost in eight games preceding the match against Aston Villa.
Both teams losing ground in the title race means the advantage is now City's. All the team needs to do is to win the remaining six games and the Blues will retain their Premier League title.
If that were to happen, winning the title this time will be even more remarkable than subsequent ones. Not only for the fact that the team will be creating a whole new record in English football as the first team to win the title for four consecutive seasons, but for the fact that the title race had been keenly contested by three teams going neck and neck all season long.
Add to that another run to the FA Cup final and City could be set to achieve another great campaign under Guardiola.
City are clear favorites to win the FA Cup against neighbors Manchester United. Although the Red Devils have shocked Guardiola's side on several occasions in the past, this will be an uphill task for Erik ten Hag's side.
The more difficult job for the Blues will be to pip both Arsenal and Liverpool to the league title. That will require a perfect run in the next six matches starting from the away fixture at Brighton. Roberto De Zerbi's team is usually solid and can cause problems.
Fortunately, City have had a good run against the side winning 11 of their last 13 Premier League meetings while drawing and losing once.
The only loss to the Seagulls came in 2021 when Joao Cancelo was sent off in the 10th minute of the match. That left City playing 80 minutes a man down. Yet, the team managed to score twice, losing 3-2.
With the Blues now close to the finish line as they chase down the title, the team will be determined to pick up the three points on offer in order to get the job done at the end of the campaign.
Arsenal 's and Liverpool's capitulation has provided the perfect opportunity for City to occupy the driving seat in the race to secure another league title. And it's now City's title to lose.
