The Hoddle of Coffee: Tottenham Hotspur news and links for Wednesday, April 24

good morning! And welcome to the ninth installment of a beloved hoddle series, The Orchid Tales.
For those unaware, The Orchid Tales follows your hoddler-in-chief’s journey as he cares for his orchid of almost three years now, affectionately named Planty.
I cannot seem to find the first two installments. They have been lost to eternity (Bonus points if you find them). You can read the rest here:
Part III / Part IV / Part V / Part VI / Part VII / Part VIII

We have but green leaves, wild roots, well-cared-for soil and hopes now.
After a lovely couple of months, my orchid’s blooms have fallen off. Its barren stem had browned, and so has the flower spike.
I sterilised a pair of scissors and said farewell to the stem and spike. Snipped them off and gave my orchid a good watering.
Now I wait.
I’ve been quite lucky, I guess, to have an orchid go almost three years without losing its main flower spike. One had departed some time ago, but I didn’t love Planty any less. I always believed in it to be a right healthy being.
Now I must wait a long time for flowers to rebloom. Heck, let’s forget about the flowers for a moment. Even to get a new flower spike would be a blessing at this point.
But I believe in Planty. And all indicators point to a healthy orchid. Lump roots and emerald-green leaves playfully outstreching their limbs to the rising sun each morning brings.
It’ll just be me and hope, then, as we await the next stages of Planty’s life.
Perhaps it’s time to get a sister orchid. But there’s something just so romantic about one underdog orchid making it in this mad mad mad mad world.
Now, time to get some orchid fetiliser.
