Man United set to pocket £15m as 'elite' USA plan revealed

Man United will earn around £15million by participating in the pre-season Soccer Champions Tour competition. That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ summer plans. United have announced plans to play four pre-season matches as part of their 2023 tour of the United States, including a one-off game against Real Madrid as part of the Soccer Champions Tour. Erik ten Hag’s side are also set to face Arsenal, Wrexham and Borussia Dortmund during their summer trip. The Manchester club decided against participating in the newly-formed Premier League summer series, which will instead be contested by Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton, Chelsea, Fulham and Newcastle United. Maguire believes United’s brand value means it is more lucrative for the club to organise their own pre-season events. “Man United historically have been making around £15million a season from pre-season tournament matches and I expect similar value this summer,” Maguire told Football Insider. “Given the increased interest in the Premier League, the club will be looking to increase their exposure. “ Promoters will also be desperate to be involved. “ I think the West Coast tournament that United are competing in will be more lucrative than the Premier League competition. “The Premier League is trying to grow their overall value whereas Man United are already a brand and will be making their own commercial demands. “ There’s no doubt that the Soccer Champions Tour is an elite, premium-price event, and Man United will benefit from that. “ In other news, Man United make Wout Weghorst decision {{#primary_category}} {{/primary_category}}
