At this point, that feels like a stretch given Villarreal’s start to the season, but Marcelino has his new side playing very well indeed, and a win here would bring the gap between the two sides to seven points with more than half of the season still to play.
The Yellows are currently in 12th place and nine points off the top seven, although eighth spot could wind up being a European place this season due to changes in the qualification system.

La Real, who are in the Champions League this season, are currently in sixth spot, and they come into this one on the back of a draw with Osasuna in La Liga and a narrow win over Andratx in the Copa del Rey.
Villarreal drew with Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League during the week, and that followed a draw with Sevilla away from home last weekend.
