15-goal/assist star can hit new levels with permanent Bolton Wanderers move - Comment

Bolton Wanderers have used the loan market brilliantly in recent seasons and the club put it to use once again for the 2023/24 campaign. Midfielder Maghoma is among those to have spent the season with Ian Evatt’s side on a temporary basis, heading north from Premier League side Brentford to find regular game time away from the Bees once more. He’d spent spells away from the West London outfit with MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon before but this season, Maghoma has hit levels he hadn’t found before at a senior level. The 22-year-old has become of growing importance in Evatt’s ranks and overall, he has managed nine goals and six assists in 47 games for Bolton Wanderers. His recent form as the loan nears an end has prompted Evatt to make clear his position over Maghoma’s future. Speaking to The Bolton News recently, the Trotters boss said that the midfielder is someone he wants to retain beyond the end of this season and conversations have already taken place over that possibility. “Paris is a player who I have really enjoyed working with, he’s an extremely talented boy,” Evatt said. His deal with the Bees expires in 2025, so a fee will be needed to sign him. It’s clear that Evatt is a big fan of the Bolton Wanderers loan man though and given how he’s developed over the course of the campaign, it seems logical to try and bring him back for good. As a Brentford youngster and former Tottenham Hotspur academy prospect, it’s clear that he’s a player deemed to have good potential too. That should mean that with the right next steps, he’ll be able to take his game up a level once again after notable improvements this season. Having made those strides forward with Bolton Wanderers, it could be the ideal environment for him to continue kicking on as he looks to maximise his potential and forge a fruitful career in the senior game.
